Synopsis Bakugan Battle Brawlers begins with Danma Kuusou, a boy who invented the game Bakugan with his friend Shun Kazami after mysterious and seemingly random cards fell out of the sky. Together with their other friends, they form a team called the 'Bakugan Battle Brawlers' in order to play this new game together. But unknown to these young friends, Bakugan is much more than a simple past time. Their game accidently sucks them into an alternate dimension called Vestroia, the home ground of Bakugan. Vestroia has recently come under attack by creatures known as the Doom Beings. This realm is balanced by the Perfect Core, which itself is formed by the Infinity and Silent Cores.
When the evil Bakugan Naga attempted to take this great power for himself, he was unable to absorb the negative energy he wished to steal and found himself trapped in the Silent Core. Now, his presence within the core has destabilized Vestroia and attempts to merge with Earth as well as many other worlds. Danma and his friends must team up with individuals from other worlds who have also been drawn into this epic battle. As Naga is seeking the Infinity Core so that he may complete the Perfect Core in order to gain control of Vestroia, Earth, and all other worlds, time is of the essence in this devastating war of worlds. Overall 9 Story 9 Animation 9 Sound 8 Character 10 Enjoyment 9 Alright, I thought I'd take the time and effort to write a review on a series I just recently finished(due to long breaks from it in order to do other things), and personally found very enjoyable, Bakugan Battle Brawlers.
Now, this series gets a lot of hate, and I can see where some people are coming from when they say it's a rip-off of Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon. However, in reality, I don't feel that way. There are quite a few things in this anime that really make it stand out from all those others that people compare it too, so let's take a little time to talk about it. STORY: Alright, so the story of Bakugan Battle Brawlers is pretty much something most people would expect. Evil person trying to destroy the world and they have to use the Bakugan to save it. However, the story still gives twists and tweaks that really set Bakugan apart.
However, if you don't watch past a certain point, you'll never get caught up in the story, and that's probably why most people akin it to most other animes that it's similar to, they just don't watch far enough into the story. Bakugan is one of those anime that you have to watch long enough to get into the actual story in order to set it apart from other anime, and once you do, it's very good. People really need to give it a second chance and watch farther into the anime. ART: I'll be the first to admit, the art of Bakugan Battle Brawlers is similar to a lot of anime. However, it's also very good and the way it's drawn plays out the battles very well. I think the animator did a great job. Enough detail to differentiate Bakugan and add to the experience of the show, but not so much detail that it simply blows you away when you see it.
Sure, I love beautiful art and great detail as much as the next girl(or guy) when it comes to my anime, but Bakugan's art is, in my opinion, excellent without being excessive. Now, I had to watch the English version, so for me the only problem was the way the voices wouldn't match the lips, as Zoki-chan said in her review of the series. Kudos to the artist of Bakugan!
SOUND: Now, I can't say much here, since I DID have to watch the EV(anyone who can give me links to download/stream the JV will be much appreciated:3), but I will admit that the opening song for the EV is rather catchy, and got stuck in my head. Some of the music during the battles is pretty good, as well. However, my lack of Knowledge of the music of the JV made me have to give sound a lower rank than the other aspects of the anime. Though, I'd love to hear some of the JV's music:3 CHARACTER: Alright, so I'm sure you're all wondering why Character is the only aspect of this show that got a perfect 10 for me? Well, let me put it this way, Bakugan did a great job on its characters. Sure, they have some generic stereotypes in there, but at the same time they managed to differentiate their characters and make all the main characters lovable and easy to get attached to.
The characterization of Bakugan is amazing, even though it doesn't give much development. Though, most animes of this type don't really give much development. However, the characters are still great in this series, even the Bakugan have character! ENJOYMENT AND OVERALL: So, overall, I think Bakugan is a great series that's definitely worth checking out. Sure, it's got its flaws, but I don't think it deserves the hate it gets.
If people would actually give it a shot, they'd find it's not as much of a rip-off, or as terrible and generic as they think it is. I found myself addicted to it, and even got the game for my Wii:3 I'm moving on to New Vestroia now, and best believe I'll be writing a review for that one once I finish it! Anyway, that ends this review. Ja ne, minna!. Overall 5 Story 5 Animation 5 Sound 4 Character 6 Enjoyment 5 This is the magnum opus of Yugioh clones.
A true testament to how far we have come as a species. If there was one thing I could salvage as the sun becomes a red supergiant and consumes the earth, it'd be a box set of Bakugan: Battle Brawlers. The story is about a young man named Dan maturing with his plastic magnet dragon toy thing and his friends. It truly feels like a satisfying adventure with a phenomenal ending. The characters are not mere generic shounen tropes, they have transcended reality itself and end up feeling so real and fleshed out that you could reach in and caress Dragonoid's scaly nipples. The animation came straight out of a Van Gogh painting, truly capturing the emotional weight of each scenario.
True greatness. The soundtrack must have been stolen from the archive of unused compositions from Ludwig van Beethoven. Truly a masterful collection of pieces. Overall this show is one of the true gems of the modern era, I urge everyone to watch this show so they can become redpilled like I have. Overall 7 Story 6 Animation 5 Sound 6 Character 9 Enjoyment 9 I remember watching this show as a kid and loving it.
Though today I don't think is as good as 7 year old me did I find myself enjoying it. The Story It is fairly generic. But, I do think that though it is generic it still does it's story alright. So I give it a 6/10.
The Art Standard. The Sound You know for a kid's show the dub is not all that bad. Also that theme song is pretty damn good. What are gonna do? The odds are stacked against you! 5/10 The Character This is one of those shows where even though the characters are generic, I still fell that every character has a defined personality.
But why would it get a 9/10 from me? I will talk about him later to avoid spoilers but, he is one of my favorite characters. My Enjoyment I just had fucking fun with this. The fights wre awesome and the creature designs were amazing. 9/10 Overall 7/10 (Warning spoilers ahead.) Now why do I love Masquerade so much? Well you should ask why I lover Alice so much. Seriously when I first saw who Masquerade was I flipped.
I was just stunned, how could it be Alice? Oh and this is one of my favorite character arcs in anime. This is just amazing. Overall 6 Story 7 Animation 5 Sound 8 Character 6 Enjoyment 8 This anime gives me an immense feeling of nostalgia because it is the first anime I've ever seen in my life Watching this show as a kid brings back memories of how much I enjoyed watching it. It truly was amazing to my 7 year old self However, if you watch the anime when you're older or look at it upon further inspection and critique you realize that the show was just mediocre Being older I have more experience in really good shows and now that I look at this show again It isn't as good my 7 year old self thought Art design is very bland and story isn't that bad, but it does borrow a lot of aspects from other anime. It lacks originality and for that I give it a 6.
After defeating the Mechtogan that appeared in Bakugan City, a temporary peace arrives. The peace isn't meant to last though as a new danger known as Wiseman arrives.
